COVID-19 Team
HKR currently represents & advises multiple insurers regarding business income/property insurance coverage disputes associated with the pandemic across the country. HKR lawyers have been involved in some of the highest profile matters from the outset, including denial of a policyholder's attempt to secure a direct, immediate coverage review by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, as well as oversight of the first complete dismissal of a COVID-19 business income suit in the nation. From our role as national counsel, membership on multiple insurers’ COVID Task Force, as well as our handling individual claims & litigation assignments, our lawyers are on the daily, cutting-edge of developments in the property insurance arena in relation to COVID-19 claims. Our role ranges from coordinating multi-jurisdictional counsel teams, coverage/regulatory advice, litigating cases through discovery, dispositive motions and appellate practice. Legislative and case law developments are monitored daily along with industry response and coordination.
Trial Counsel
Some cases simply have to be tried. Litigation, always a last resort, is an important feature of our practice. We litigate in state & federal courts nationally. Our emphasis on the courts in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York & Maryland has yielded comfort and familiarity with practice and procedure there, including long-standing roots in the Philadelphia county and federal courts.
HKR’s lawyers have tried over 150 jury trials to verdict. Hundreds of additional matters have been tried through arbitration and non-jury trials.
