Bob Horst

Bob is HKR’s Managing Partner.

HKR’s 2021 founding marks Bob’s 30th year handling insurance coverage matters, with numerous jury trials to verdict.  In addition to decades-long relationships with a number of insurers, Bob has particular pride in his team’s current role within several COVID-19 defense teams, task forces, and as coordinating counsel.  A native Philadelphian, Bob and his team regularly litigate there, along with the 5-county metropolitan area though the Firm is currently involved in matters in state and federal courts across the nation. First party property insurance remains his niche.

Bob’s publications, presentations and service to the industry has been deep and varied, addressing trial tactics, emerging issues, including co-authoring/editing the treatise Extracontractual Litigation Against Insurers. Bob’s service to the industry also includes over 6 years as General Counsel to the International Association of Special Investigative Units and its 4,000 worldwide members, along with a term on the National Committee of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (“CLM”).

Bob has been named among America’s Top 100 Civil Defense Litigators® since 2018, and has been regularly recognized as a Best Lawyer® and Super Lawyer® and rated 10/10 by the national website avvo.com.  In 2011, Bob was profiled on the cover article of Claims Advisor magazine, “Ready to Rumble,” and has been quoted in The New York Times, PropertyCasualty360, Inc. magazine, Law360, National Underwriter magazine, The Legal Intelligencer, Student Lawyer magazine, The Jackson Clarion Ledger (Mississippi), and www.lawcrossing.com.

Aside from his practice, Bob truly enjoys coaching soccer. Over the last decade, Bob’s served as an Assistant Coach at Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown PA – Go Bucks! – where he’s coached all 3 of his own children, along with a few hundred other fantastic young men and women as well.  Bob and his wife, Kelly, met in law school and have resided in Bucks County ever since.
