Gregory G. Lawton

With over 40 years of experience in insurance coverage, state and federal trial and appellate practice, and litigation management, Greg joined our firm as special counsel in 2022. He has deep experience acquired during his 30 years serving as Assistant General Counsel in the law departments of the Chubb, ACE USA, and Cigna insurance companies. His areas of practice and expertise is extraordinarily varied, and includes first party commercial property and builders risk policies; third party commercial general liability insurance; commercial marine protection and indemnity policies; first party and third party recreational marine insurance; open ocean marine cargo; inland marine insurance and transportation coverage; and home, personal auto and valuables policies.

Prior to entering corporate practice, Greg worked as a litigator for an insurance defense/coverage law firm in suburban Chicago. He has both jury and bench trial experience in state and federal courts in Illinois. In addition, he is an experienced appellate litigator and has written briefs and presented oral arguments in all five Illinois appellate districts, the Illinois Supreme Court, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. In addition to those areas of practice, he has an advanced degree in federal taxation and has experience in both estate planning and elder law.

Greg enjoys international travel and has toured Europe extensively and most recently Egypt and Israel. He has a special interest in the Civil War and has toured the many of the battlefields of the war, and is an active member of the Delaware Valley Civil War Roundtable, the General Meade Society, the Save Historic Antietam and the Friends of Gettysburg foundations.
